Okay, can anyone help me here? I just shared Om Shanti Om with my son last night and was reminded of a question I've had for sometime. I can't help wondering if they are simply using the word fish as a stand in for more offensive language or if there is some cultural significance to the SRK's usage of it as a curse word in the film. If any of you know I would appreciate it if you would share.
We love this movie and love all the gags, I figure there is more than one we're missing in this one but the fish thing left me wondering. Thanks.

I was wondering the same thing too, Wendy and figured it was just a substitute for the other word. I just thought it was hilarious though! I think he said that in Ra.One too. But I'd like to know the answer to that also. Maybe you can ask him on Twitter! lol

Permalink Reply by Jennifer Hopfinger on January 8, 2012 at 10:37am I'm assuming it's a stand-in for a swear word. I've also noticed that swear words spoken in Hindi are translated as non-swear words in the English subtitles. But I don't know why.

I just wondered if there was some joke we weren't getting on the fish thing but we kind of thought it was a stand in, one I've been using in occasion because it amuses me. LOL
